About me
I appreciate you taking the time to visit my page! I’m Nena and I have been a Mental Health Therapist for over 15 years. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, in 2010 and have worked in many different mental health settings prior to going into private practice. These experiences have really shaped how I work and interact with my clients. I have worked in hospitals, substance abuse and dependence centers, residential and foster-care settings, as well as out-patient group practice over the years. In addition to therapy services, I also have experience with case management and connecting clients with available resources that can help them further their goals.
I'm truly passionate in helping adults struggling with challenging life transitions, burnout, issues surrounding relationships, and struggles with parenting. Clients come to me with an array of symptoms such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and grief. For clients that have issues with relationships, I help my clients learn how to set healthy boundaries and lead a more fulfilling life. No matter what they are facing, my clients have come to trust my genuine empathy for their unique situation and they know that I always have their best interest at heart.
When I’m not working, I spend time with my spouse, my two school-aged kids, and my dogs Daisy and Gus. With a background in art, I love to draw using ink and charcoal mediums. I also love to bake, travel, and plan fun family adventures! As a Massachusetts native, I enjoy all the fun activities that our state offers throughout the changing seasons.
With my personal experience and as a seasoned therapist, I want to use this knowledge to help you initiate positive life changes to work towards having a life that brings you happiness. To me, the most important part of my work is having empathy, creating a safe space, and showing respect for those with whom I serve. I am truly passionate about my work and the quality of care I provide. It would be a true honor to assist you on your journey!
My Approach
First- I will tell you what you won’t get. I have clients that come to me and tell me my last therapist “just listened” and they “never helped me to actually make the progress I need to reach my goals.”
Truth- I want you to move the needle and progress. To do this I ensure I keep my caseload small. I don’t take on too many clients as I want to provide the BEST care possible. I truly get to know my clients and find that I am effective in helping them by focusing on two main components:
Getting to know you
Where your life journey has taken you and the impact it has had on your life matters. We take a deep dive into who you are and how you came to be who you are.
The future you want
I use a vast array of modalities to tailor therapy to your specific needs and goals. I do this by always putting your needs first in our work to ensure you see the outcomes you deserve.
